The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position beginning on July 8, 2019.

The postdoctoral scholar position is in the area of 3D printing and additive manufacturing of concrete materials and structures. The ideal candidate should have knowledge and background in one or a combination of the following fields:

  • Cement-based or geopolymer-based infrastructure materials, their materials science, chemistry, rheology, mechanics, microstructure and properties
  • Concrete additive manufacturing
  • Novel and functional infrastructure materials
  • Infrastructure materials characterization
  • Reinforced concrete large-scale structure testing

The postdoctoral scholar will work with Professor Mo Li (http://engineering.uci.edu/users/mo-li) and her research group to conduct federal- and state-funded interdisciplinary research projects to address challenges in the new field of concrete additive manufacturing for highly loaded structures. Initial appointment will be for a 12-month or 24-month period, renewable subject to performance and continuation of project funding. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D., in civil engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
