Position Summary:

The Department of Biomedical Science in The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor position, Boca Raton. FL.

The College of Medicine’s strategic plan outlines four broad research areas:

  • Neuroscience
  • Healthy Aging & Cardiovasculature Systems
  • Chronic Pain & Opioid Use
  • Genomics & Precision Medicine. 

The Department of Biomedical Science supports basic and translational research into underlying mechanisms that trigger diseases of the nervous, cardiovascular, and immune systems, among others.  In addition, this position will contribute to the innovative teaching and important service missions of the College of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. from an accredited institution in biological or life sciences (or related discipline) required.

Experience leading successful basic science programs with clear translational potential and a superior, sustainable record or original research for at least 10 years as an independent scientist, as revealed through publications, awards, and funding required.

Candidates should be excited by the opportunity to maintain and accelerate outstanding research programs and directly contribute to the growth of innovative academic training programs at the graduate and medical school levels.

Basic or translational scientist with a strong record of accomplishment, current record of NIH funding, and history of collaboration with other leading researchers are preferred.

Prior to appointment, the candidate must submit official, sealed transcripts from all institutions where graduate coursework was attempted, whether or not a degree was obtained, as well as an original NACES evaluation, if applicable. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University not to you as the student.
