ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: 

The Associate Vice President of Business Operations assists the Vice President of Business Services in providing leadership for College business administrative services in accordance with the Board of Trustee Policies and as required by law. The areas of responsibility include Property Control Management, Mail Room, Shipping & Receiving, Construction, and the Foundation. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Program Administration 

1. Provides direct coordination and leadership of Property Control Management, Construction, Mail Room, Shipping & Receiving, Foundation, external service contractors and community relations/ TIFs. 

2. Assists in providing support for all areas reporting to the Vice President of Business Services and acts as liaison to these areas when assigned by the Vice President of Business Services. 

3. Acts as liaison when assigned by the Vice President of Business Services to external agencies essential to the business operation of the college. 

4. Assists the Vice President of Business Services in providing efficient, on-line systems to provide cost efficient business services to the college. 

5. Assists in the coordination of legal services to represent the college. 

6. Supervises the development and controls of Property Control Management. 
7. Collaborates with the Vice President providing input for decisions using sound business principles with knowledge of financial constraints and facilities and all Business Office services. 

8 Assists in evaluating Business Services and makes recommendations to the Vice President on changes to improve the response in meeting the overall needs of the College. 

9. Negotiates contracts with vendors for the purchase and/or lease of hardware, software, peripherals and related support products as well as contractual services related to Information Services. 

10. Coordinates the campus software licensing/lease agreements. 

11. Coordinates the asset management service for the college and coordinates the disposal of obsolete college property. 

12. Provides statistical analyses of user services for Business Operations to the Vice President of Business Services. 

13. Coordinates renovation and remodeling project list, monitoring expenditures for site and building accounts and assists in preparation of furnishing lists for new construction. 

14. Participates on various college committees and task forces as assigned by the Vice President of Business Service. 

15. Responsible for Contract Management in the absence of the Vice President of Business Services. 

16. Assists with all Business Service functions, including Finance, as assigned by the Vice President of Business Services. 

17. Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Business Services. 

Fiscal Management 

1. Supervises the development and controls of Property Control Management. 

2. Responsible for personnel and budget of all cost centers assigned as well as institutional budget planning. 

General Administration 

1. Assists the Vice President on the administration of college-wide projects. 

2. Collaborates with the Vice President providing input for decisions using sound business principles with knowledge of financial constraints and facilities and all other Business Operations services. 

3. Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Business Services. 

Planning and Evaluation 

1. Assists in the development of goals and objectives for the Business Operations areas based on the mission and strategic plan of the college. 

2. Supervises and coordinates the completion of statewide reports as directed by the Vice President of Business Services.  

 

EDUCATION: 

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related area required. Master's degree in Business Administration preferred. 

EXPERIENCE: 

Two to three years experience in Business Operations-related areas (preferably in the community college environment) or educational attainment with community college experience. Demonstrated project leadership experience. 

KNOWLEDGE: 

Comprehensive knowledge of community college administration. Knowledge of project management and business automation. 

SKILLS: 

Demonstrated leadership in a community college setting. Demonstrated ability at problem solving and interpersonal communication.
