The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas State University, a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), is seeking to fill a position in secondary education (grades 7-12) at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor rank. This is a full-time position with a nine-month academic year appointment beginning in the fall of 2020.

The successful candidate will:
1) deliver quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction;

2) pursue a focused area of scholarship that culminates in nationally refereed publications, professional presentations, submitted grant proposals (i.e. external funding), and scholarly projects with faculty and students; and

3) provide leadership by helping the secondary program to grow.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor Rank:
• Earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction or education-related field by hiring date.
• A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience at the secondary level or equivalent.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university, community college, or secondary level.
• Record of, or demonstrated potential for, excellence in scholarly activity as evidenced by publications, presentations, grants, etc.

Required Qualifications for Associate Professor or Professor Rank:
• Earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction or education-related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience at the secondary school level or equivalent.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level.
• Record of excellence in scholarly activity as evidenced by publications, presentations, grants, etc. commensurate with rank.
• To be eligible for hire at the associate professor or professor rank, the candidate must meet the requirements as established by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. The successful candidate will receive the appropriate rank and title based on standards established by the university and department.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications for Assistant Professor Rank:
• Successful experience teaching graduate-level research courses and/or courses in curriculum, instruction, and assessment at the undergraduate or graduate levels.
• Experience teaching in field-based courses.
• Evidence of teacher/student/community collaboration in teaching or research.
• Evidence of and commitment to issues of social justice, equity, access, multilingual learning, and culturally responsive teaching.
• Experience using innovative technologies and/or integrating technology into the curriculum.
• Evidence of service at the university, community college, or secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications for Associate Professor or Professor Rank:
• Successful experience teaching graduate-level research courses and/or courses in curriculum, instruction, and assessment at the undergraduate or graduate levels.
• Evidence of leadership at the secondary or university levels, or in the profession.
• Evidence of service to the university, department, and profession.
• Experience teaching in field-based courses.
• Evidence of teacher/student/community collaboration in teaching or research.
• Evidence of and commitment to issues of social justice, equity, access, multilingual learning, and culturally responsive teaching.
• Experience using innovative technologies and/or integrating technology into the curriculum.
• Experience with CAEP/NCATE/TEAC accreditation and/or serving as a member of a comparable accreditation team.
