The Instructional Technologist provides technology support and training to faculty staff and students in order to advance their research and teaching mission, assisting in moving forward informational technology initiatives. S/he also supports resolution of student-reported issues related to supported academic and instructional technologies - specifically with lecture capture, web conferencing software, and the learning management system. Reporting to the Director of Instructional and Academic Technologies, the Instructional Technologist has duties that include but are not limited to:

Lecture Capture Support
  • Manages lecture capture software.
  • Troubleshoots lecture capture issues for faculty and students.
  • Troubleshoots hardware issues for lecture capture as needed.
  • Works with A/V staff a needed to assist with lecture capture and classroom needs.
  • Develops and maintains support documentation as needed.
  • Works with vendor to resolve issues as needed.

Web Conference Support
  • Supports web conferencing software, including instructional continuity which may fall outside of normal business hours.
  • Develops and maintains support documentation as needed.

Learning Management System Support
  • Supports and helps manage Canvas LMS.
  • Assists with help calls related to software and resolve or escalate all related issues as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains support documentation as needed.

Academic and Instructional Technologies Support
  • Assists with support of all other academic and Instructional technologies, including Google Apps, Box and other supported technologies.
  • Develops and maintains support documentation as needed.

Training
  • Assists with developing training materials for supported technologies.
  • Assists with developing and conducting trainings for supported technologies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a digital media, instructional technology or related discipline
  • 2 years of work experience in higher education technology (equivalent work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree)
  • Working knowledge of lecture capture, video conferencing, learning management, and academic software, as well as web publishing
  • Knowledge of online classroom technologies such as hardware and audio/visual equipment
  • Good skills in problem solving and project management
  • Experience working with ticketing software
  • Preference for experience working directly with faculty and/or as a technology trainer
