The Financial Aid Advisor provides financial aid services to students on a district-wide basis. The Advisor performs a key role in daily advising to current and prospective students on funding possibilities including Title IV federal aid, state of Oregon grant programs, and PCC Foundation programs. Advisors will also need to have some familiarity and able to advise students around where to find and how to evaluate scholarships, non-federal student loan programs, and other common student funding sources.

The FA Advisor also makes professional judgment decisions regarding student aid eligibility, performs verification, and other functions related to application and award processing, both through routine assigned reports to this position, as well as the opportunity to participate in special projects. Incumbents in this job classification are accountable for ensuring compliance with federal regulations and may interact with outside agencies and professional associations.

  • Demonstrated work experience in student financial aid directly related to financial aid counseling, eligibility determination, need analysis, verification and packaging required.
  • Experience with personal computers and on-line data systems required.
  • Working knowledge of federal financial aid programs and supporting regulations
  • Basic knowledge of current tax regulations and how they apply to financial aid
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and successfully manage a significant processing load
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Skill operating a computer and student information system software, e.g. Banner
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment

Minimum Qualifications To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked). Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Computer Science, Social Science or related field. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.Demonstrated experience in student financial aid directly related to financial aid counseling, eligibility determination, need analysis, verification and packaging required. Experience with personal computers and on-line data systems required. Preferred Qualifications 1. Demonstrated commitment to providing equitable and inclusive services to a diverse student population.
2. Demonstrated experience advising students around issues of college funding
3. Significant knowledge of federal financial aid programs and supporting regulations.
4. Skill in researching and resolving financial aid questions and cases
5. Demonstrated responsibility for program oversight and/or development
6. Significant experience with applicant/file processing, able to handle a significant case load with guiding and training other office staff as needed
7. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships between FA and other campus offices and constituents.
8. Proficiency with a 2nd language Salary:
Starting Salary: $41,734 to $44,707 (Step 3) - based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

*Please note: Temporary Academic Professional employees are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

- Starts at 13.33 hours of vacation leave per month (additional
vacation hours with years of services)

- 1 day of sick leave per month

- 11 holidays

- 3 additional personal leave days per year
