Mary Baldwin University seeks a visionary and technologically adept leader and strategist to help direct and support the growth of MBU Online, a vibrant new initiative to build on the institution’s historic strength in meeting the needs of non-traditional and non-residential students, as well as to strengthen the university’s hybrid and face to face courses.

With various reporting options available based upon candidate experience and education, this position will provide both program level strategy as well as design and help deliver support to on-campus and remote faculty on a variety of platforms as they develop and offer courses that embrace the potential of emerging technologies and pedagogies. The successful candidate will be energetic and engaging, with excellent planning and organizational, interpersonal, change management, and presentation skills. The position requires demonstrated capabilities with designing and delivering online curricula, as well as experience in the CANVAS Learning Management System and competency-based course management, and a working knowledge of learning analytics. Experience with artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and cognitive learning systems is a plus.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in providing strategic direction to MBU Online at the programmatic, curricular, and pedagogical level, guiding the development and deployment of digital learning enhancements for online and face to face courses
  2. Design resources to support faculty as they build and offer courses in CANVAS,  incorporate competency based learning, and employ learning analytics within their courses
  3. Work with university administration to develop learning analytics and outcomes reports
  4. Make presentations and lead workshops to introduce new technologies
  5. Investigate new instructional technologies and report suitability/usability for Mary Baldwin
  6. Implement Artificial Intelligence, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and Cognitive Learning systems within online courses

Minimum Qualifications:

-A Master’s degree in Online Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Technology, or equivalent degree in related field required

-A minimum of two years of experience in leading the development of online programs, with three additional years of experience in educational technology required

-Direct experience working with the Canvas Learning Management System required

-A record of successful implementation of competency-based learning and learning analytics, and/or demonstrated experience with artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and cognitive learning systems strongly preferred.

-Highly advanced, broad-based, job-specific knowledge generally recognized in the field, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, image editing software, Panopto, and HTML editor, required.

-Proven ability to communicate effectively with campus leaders, faculty, staff, students on technical and non-technical issues required. Experience working with non-traditional, diverse student and employee populations strongly preferred.
