POSITION SUMMARY:

This full-time professional position serves as a project manager and communications specialist within ITS’ Project Management Office (PMO), reporting to the Director of ITS Projects and Support. This role supports the intake of IT-related project requests from the W&L community; plans, coordinates, and manages such project requests within the context of the ITS project portfolio management process; serves as primary owner of creating and managing the ITS communication plan, making appropriate and creative use of communications channels (web, Twitter, etc.) to provide clear, timely messaging and announcements regarding existing ITS offerings, new efforts, ITS related emergencies, ITS security efforts and other technology related topics.

WORK HOURS:   8:30-4:30 Monday-Friday
FLSA:  Exempt
PAY: $62,692 / year. Salary commensurate with experience

ESSENTIAL AND RELATED FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for intake of ITS related project requests and managing coordination of review process in support of, and in alignment with, ITS prioritization process.
  • Responsible for managing project implementation tasks in accordance with ITS project portfolio management guidelines.
  • Manages technology projects using proven ITS project management principles.
  • Responsible for communicating major project milestones, status updates and risks to relevant stakeholders.
  • Responsible for developing and coordinating ITS related messaging across University communications channels including the ITS website and various social media options.
  • Accountable to follow the ITS Information Security Program and industry standard best practices to help ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all IT resources.
  • Additional related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree, or a combination of education and experience from which a similar skill set would be obtained. Three years of direct experience in a technology environment with project management related responsibilities. Demonstrated experience: analyzing and translating customer needs into functional requirements; creating and managing actionable plans to meet defined functional requirements; managing expectations, and facilitating and communicating productive next steps to engage stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage IT projects according to generally accepted project management practices. Strong understanding of technology processes and systems. Strong customer focus and proven ability to drive towards measurable outcomes. Well-developed and demonstrated oral and written communications skills with the ability to use them creatively in developing and coordinating across multiple, targeted communications channels and media. (Including print, video, and social media platforms). Solid skills and ability in translating technical information into succinct, actionable messaging for both technical and non-technical people. Demonstrated ability to communicate openly, effectively and professionally with leadership and colleagues. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and act as a liaison between users, IT vendors, IT project stakeholders, and technical subject matter experts. Ability to motivate co-workers, stakeholders, and other audiences while promoting teamwork is essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.Application Instructions
