Chief Technology Officer

The Georgia Institute of Technology (i.e., the Institute, Georgia Tech and/or GT) invites applications for a strategic-thinking, innovative chief technology officer. As a member of the IT senior leadership team for the Institute and reporting to the vice president-IT/chief information officer, the chief technology officer (CTO) has a strategic focus on the research and academic technologies of the Institute. The CTO will actively participate in IT governance and leadership roles throughout the Institute.  This will be accomplished by partnering with research and academic entities, and leading and executing the aspects of IT strategy that enable the Institute to achieve its research, teaching and learning goals.

The CTO role formulates technical strategy for research and digital learning technologies that is responsive to the needs of researchers, faculty and students, and that demonstrates a forward leaning view of technology. The CTO has a direct impact on, and responsibility for, research funding and general institutional funds. Additionally, this role provides leadership, oversight, and influence over the Partnership for Advanced Computing Environment (PACE), the Research Cyber Infrastructure, the Digital Learning Environment for Georgia Tech and the forthcoming Enterprise Innovation Program at Georgia Tech.

Applicants must have a master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The candidate must have a minimum fifteen years of progressively increasing technology leadership responsibilities running large complex research, academic and innovation projects in a university, federal agency, or research-intensive, systems environment.
