Job Description:

The Interim Part-time Special Program Coordinator for Community Engagement reports to the Dean of Behavioral, Social Sciences and Global Learning and is part of a the Office of Community Engagement. BHCC's Office of Community Engagement provides multiple pathways for students to engage as active members of their communities. BHCC students work with community-based organizations as assigned through their courses, explore civic and ethical issues with each other on campus, or volunteer in their local communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate monthly convening with a group of campus stakeholders;
  • Coordinate a series of listening sessions and summarize findings on: student experiences with curricular/co-curricular community engagement; faculty experiences designing, implementing and assessing, community partners' experiences collaborating with BHCC.
  • Collaborate with the Center for Equity and Cultural Wealth and BHCC Learning Communities to develop an application and reporting process for BHCC's curricular/co-curricular integration work.
  • Develop a professional development framework for community engagement, that includes in-person and virtual options.
  • Curate resources and scholarship for faculty and staff in high-impact practices related to Community Engagement

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of full-time experience in Community Engagement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community and civic engagement, reciprocal community partnerships and outcome and assessment research and practice
  • Demonstrated experience in designing , implementing and assessing professional development activities
  • Demonstrated experience in being able to listen, build rapport, and engage with multiple on- and off-campus stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently with low supervision and take initiative in completing projects
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a diverse environment

Additional Information:

Salary: $28.29/wk. @ 25hrs./wk. (This is a temporary six-month sabbatical replacement position from July 1, 2019-December 31, 2019.)
