Assistant Dean, School Of Social Sciences


Under the general direction of the Dean, the School of Social Sciences at UC Irvine seeks an Assistant Dean to define and prioritize specific administrative support needs related to the school's mission, develop strategies to accomplish these needs and execute the activity necessary to fulfill these needs. The incumbent is tasked with upholding and exemplifying excellence in the University's core competencies -- job mastery, goal accomplishment, enterprise contribution and innovation -- while representing the Dean and School to members of the campus, UC system and the community at large. As the University continues to expand and shift culturally, it is imperative that the incumbent supports change management at the School level while aiding in the facilitation of effective change enterprise-wide. The incumbent is responsible for the entire scope of planning, operations, and resource management for the School, involving its instructional, research, and administrative functions with administrative management responsibilities for the following functional departments: Anthropology, Chicano-Latino Studies, Cognitive Sciences, Economics, Global and International Studies, Language Science, Logic and Philosophy of Science, Political Science and Sociology, as well as the School's research and administrative units. The incumbent conducts extensive planning for all operational, resource and program needs; Directs financial operations; Oversees technology support operations for both administrative and instructional computing; Provides leadership for management of all space, facilities, and capital needs; Management responsibility for all human resources issues (both academic and staff) in the School.

Salary: Annual Commensurate with experience
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
Career Position.
Must be flexible with work schedule to accommodate seasonal and emergent workload demands of the organization.
