About Greenfield Community College:
Greenfield Community College is located in the beautiful and historic Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts, between the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and the fertile farmland of the Connecticut River watershed. GCC is a public community college serving over 4,800 people annually in credit courses and credit-free workshops. THE ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM: The Associate Degree Nursing program is part of the Engineering, Math, Nursing and Sciences grouping and is directly supervised by the Assistant Dean of Nursing. Program personnel include six full time faculty members, seven to eight clinical adjunct instructors, and a full-time administrative assistant, shared with the Practical Nursing program, to provide support. Experienced faculty focus on quality and excellence in teaching and learning with a strong commitment to producing nursing graduates who are prepared to meet challenges in the contemporary healthcare environment including technical, problem solving, and applied skills. GCC's nursing program is held in high regard in the region and has a long history of students exceeding the national NCLEX pass rates for ADN and BSN graduates. The program curriculum is enriched with service learning experiences integrated throughout all four semesters and incorporates high fidelity patient simulation in the skills curriculum and web-enhancements in courses. Our students represent a diverse community of learners including licensed practical nurses who apply for advanced placement in the program and students who have completed more advanced degrees in other fields.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Provides classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction in Associate Degree Nursing program, which includes Fundamentals of Nursing, Family Nursing (obstetrical nursing or pediatric nursing), and other content as assigned. Provides academic advisement for approximately 18 ADN and Nursing Intent students; maintains regular office hours; serves on committees as elected or appointed; attends regularly scheduled department, division and college meetings; and performs other duties as assigned. Collaborates with other faculty in delivery of nursing curriculum, in drafting of course delivery schedules, and in ongoing curriculum development. Contributes to accreditation, program, and course report activities.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Teaches nursing courses in the appropriate content areas;
- Directs and teaches students in college classrooms, on-campus skills and simulation lab and clinical cooperating agencies;
- Evaluates student achievement in classroom and clinical settings;
- Provides support to part-time instructors working with assigned courses and agencies;
- Counsels nursing students in relation to progress regarding achievement of program objectives with appropriate documentation of these activities;
- Contributes to the development of nursing program policies;
- Coordinates service learning programs;
- Identifies and supports students in clinical and academic situations, and refers students to appropriate campus resources;
- Assists students in the development of a thorough understanding of the nurse's role in contemporary nursing practice;
- Provides professional role modeling for nursing students
- Develops and reviews the educational philosophy, purposes and objectives of the program and nursing courses
- Organizes, develops and evaluates the nursing curriculum;
- Makes recommendations regarding deployment of personnel and uses of facilities essential to meeting objectives;
- Develops specific criteria and related methods for the evaluation of student achievement of objectives;
- Serves on college committees as elected and/or assigned;
- Contributes to a positive, respectful, and collaborative learning and work environment;
- Contributes to assessment activities including accreditation and year-end reporting;
- Participates in program meetings and college-wide meetings, end of semester nursing curriculum meetings
- Maintains records and reports in accordance with established program policies;
- Maintains scheduled office hours in accordance with college policy;
- Maintains collegial relationships with the staff and administration of affiliating clinical facilities;
- Continues professional study and education;
- Maintains current professional liability insurance; and
- Maintains current registration as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (and Vermont as indicated).
- Eligibility for RN licensure in Massachusetts (and/or Vermont as needed);
- Possesses an earned Master of Science degree in nursing;
- Minimum of two years full-time clinical experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years and evidence of clinical competence;
- Current American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification;
- Instructional experience in the college or clinical setting;
- Meets required Health standards to serve at clinical sites;
- Current malpractice insurance;
- Ability to utilize technology in student learning situations equivalent to student expectations in clinical settings; and
- Record of performance that demonstrates respect for diversity.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND APTITUDES:
- Proficiency in oral and written communication, including basic computer skills.
- Demonstrated successful community college teaching experience, preferably classroom teaching experience;
- Experience with curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes;
- Community nursing experience and knowledge of holistic health practices; nursing experience in various practice settings across the wellness-illness continuum; or with diverse populations
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting cultural proficiency within the curriculum and the profession;
- Knowledge of or experience with high fidelity patient simulation and other modes of technology; and
- Ph.D. in nursing, nursing education, D.N.P. or related field.
- Certification in Simulation for nursing.

RANK AND SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $47,160-$65,668. Rank and appointment salary are based on one's education and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreement classification compensation structure. Candidates are therefore advised that it is unlikely the offered salary will be at or near the top of the range.
