Position Description:
Under the general supervision of the Policy & Compliance (P&C) Manager for Events & Transportation (E&T), provide complex analytical, technical and administrative support to facilitate the day-to-day operations of E&T. Partner with, and serve in a lead capacity in the absence of, the P&C Manager to ensure that organizational needs are met without interruption; respond to complex inquiries from campus administrators, city officials, etc., often of a politically sensitive or highly confidential and time sensitive nature; and perform analytical and technical tasks to complete special and ongoing projects requiring extensive research, data collection and detailed analysis, following departmental guidelines, parking regulations and University policies and procedures. Initiate and prioritize work to meet departmental, campus and University deadlines. Exercise independent judgment to troubleshoot and resolve issues which crosscut the organization and/or could negatively impact the ability of the organization to function effectively. Inform the Executive Director, P&C Manager and/or appropriate E&T manager of urgent or evolving issues requiring an immediate or timely response or that may require involvement by a higher authority. Compose correspondence for the Executive Director's signature and other high level executives, writing effectively within the context of a complex organization. Prepare executive level presentations and edit for grammar, clarity and logic. Assist in coordinating responses to requests for information related to collective bargaining of parking rates. Produce concise, diplomatic and astute minutes from lengthy, (sometimes) politically charged meetings. Resolve complex parking and transportation issues, facilitating the diplomatic resolution of conflicts. Research and vet information contained in event and transportation related studies/plans/reports. Serve as a conduit and liaison for E&T with entities such as the Transportation Service Advisory Board, Government & Community Relations, etc. Organize intra-campus and system-wide meetings, retreats and conferences. Proofread and edit text of correspondence/written material prepared by operational and/or senior managers for accuracy, clarity and consistency. Ensure that the Executive Director's office is appropriately supported at all times. Perform administrative tasks that require excellent communication skills, initiative, discretion, and the ability to interact with all levels of the University community. Respond to campus emergencies during regular business hours and after hours. Perform other duties as assigned.

In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
