ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SHACC FOR COUNSELING INTERNSHIP EDUCATION AND TRAINING

The Student Health and Counseling Center (SCHACC) at Hofstra University is accepting applications for a full-time position as Assistant Director of SHACC for Counseling Internship Education and Training. Reporting to the Executive Director of SHACC, the Assistant Director of SHACC for Counseling Internship Education and Training will perform a range of activities servicing a diverse student community, including individual and group counseling, psychological assessment and crisis consultation. The Assistant Director shares responsibility for the oversight of psychology training programs, including the APA-Accredited internship and psychology externship training program. The ability to provide treatment and conceptualize services as well as provide training from a short-term cognitive-behavioral perspective is required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Conducting intake assessments, individual and group counseling, and triage intervention
• Managing multiple aspects of training programs including development of internship seminars, conducting individual and group supervision, and preparation of clinical and administrative summary reports
• Consultation with faculty, staff, students and families
• Collaboration and consultation with Division of Student Affairs partners, medical staff and other mental health providers
• Service on some evenings and weekends to manage student emergencies and support university community events and programming
• Maintaining patient electronic health records in accordance with regulations and policies and overseeing training of the electronic health record system
• Collection and management of student utilization data; contribute to the development of goal driven projects and departmental reports
• Knowledge and experience with multiple office technology applications
The SHACC, within the Division of Student Affairs, combines the resources of medical and mental health services in support of student wellness. Accessible short-term health care, health education, and psychological services assist in facilitating the mission of education through proactive efforts that help students realize their full potential. Doctorate Degree in Psychology from and APA accredited program and licensure or license eligibility as a psychologist in the state of New York is required. Candidate will have a passion for and experience working with students, families, and colleagues of diverse backgrounds and demonstrate a commitment to multicultural competence and is highly motivated to engage a diverse student population. Must have 3 to 5 years licensed experience with a young adult population. Candidate will have experience in the administration of a training program in a college or university setting. Candidate must be forward-looking, embrace best practices and thrive in a learning environment that welcomes and celebrates human diversity and difference. Motivation to actively support and attend DSA and University-wide events. Candidate will have strong quantitative and analytical skills and comfort with appropriate technologies including social media. Experience providing clinical services in a fast-paced university setting is highly preferred. Ability to perform other duties as required.
