JOB GOAL:

To advance the college's mission, vision, principles, values and strategic initiatives through continuous improvement decisions.

$1,208 per credit hour of instruction.
Teaches Monday-Friday 7:30-9:00am.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, the instructor is responsible for fostering student learning in the area of Agricultural Sciences. Courses taught are part of an Agriculture Sciences Academy offered at the Kirkwood Regional Center at the University of Iowa (KRCUI) in Coralville, Iowa. Teaching responsibilities could include Principles of Agronomy, Precision Farming Systems and Survey of Animal Industry. Must develop, implement and evaluate instruction, and report and record student achievement in assigned courses in accordance with department, division and college policies and procedures. Teaching responsibilities include lecture, laboratory and may include some clinical settings.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively organize, prepare, and teach assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi.
  • Develop course material.
  • Prepare student learning activities.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Possess the ability to organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities, and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
  • Maintain a minimum of five office hours per week and be available on an as-needed basis for student questions and discussions regarding their performance.
  • Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and educational media.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationship with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and the general public.
  • Be a creative, energetic, and self-motivated individual who demonstrates leadership and collaborative work habits within the department and in active participation in college committees.
  • Read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in agriculture or related discipline is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Industry experience.
  • Master's degree.
  • Teaching experience in a student-centered environment.
  • Community College experience.
