The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and organized team player for a newly created Student Services and Operations Manager position. In a highly active and engaged community with programming centering around policy, leadership, and public service, the Student Services and Operations Manager is responsible for providing exceptional service in support of day-to-day student services operations and general facility management for the school as a whole.

The manager will provide logistical and organizational support for student-related events, as well as supervision of undergraduate and graduate student leaders in the planning and execution of their programming. Operating out of Garrett Hall, the manager also serves as the primary liaison with UVA Facilities Management and other University service providers and external vendors for building maintenance needs. The manager will monitor student activities and general building conditions to ensure the School provides well-organized and safe events and programming. This is a hands-on role, with the manager providing direct support and assistance, both with and without the support of a team of student employees. The manager reports to the Senior Assistant Dean for Student Services and is also supported by the Senior Associate Dean for Administration.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with at least six years of experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree will substitute for years of experience.
  • Strong customer service orientation; creativity, ability to assume responsibility, take initiative and motivate others
  • Ability to develop, monitor, and manage budgets
  • Demonstrated program/workshop development and event coordination experience
  • Well-developed organizational skills; ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent presentation and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, and alumni
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
