Job Description:


The International Student FOCUS Program at Dean College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach ENG 111: Composition I in our ESL program. This position requires 6 instructional hours per week, Monday through Friday, for the Fall 2019 semester: ENG 111 meets MWF, 12-12:50 am and TTh, 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm.



The FOCUS program is designed for international students entering college in the United States. The program combines cultural orientation, language instruction and individualized tutoring as well as academic classes to give the international student a holistic educational experience. ENG 111, Composition I, is a core requirement for all students designed to teach students composition skills needed at the college level. The specific sections for international students are designed to strengthen reading comprehension skills as well as sentence, paragraph, and essay writing abilities.


The program does provide a course charter with course objectives and outcomes, as well as the syllabi used by other instructors teaching the same courses in the program.



Requirements:


A Master's degree in English, Rhetoric/Composition, or related field is required. ESL teaching experience at the college level is also required for this specific section of the course.


Experience with or willingness to learn Moodle, our course management system, and classroom media is necessary. The successful candidate will possess expertise in learner-centered teaching; use of technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy and the ability to work effectively with a culturally-diverse student body and a variety of learning styles.
