Dean College's School of Liberal Arts is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Expressive Arts Therapies during the fall semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach PSY 399: Expressive Arts Therapies. PSY 399 is a 3-credit course that meets for 2.5 hours/week. There are approximately 30 students in the section. The adjunct pay rate is $2,800/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Psychology program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi.
The course description is as follows: This course introduces the history, philosophy and theory of expressive arts therapy. Students will study the creative process as it relates to multiple modalities including art, dance/movement, drama, music and writing. Students will also explore the integration and the interrelatedness of the arts in expressive therapy.
There is one PSY 399 section available. It is scheduled to meet Tuesday/Thursday, 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
- A Master's degree in psychology or related discipline area is required, a PhD preferred;
- College teaching experience preferred;
- Experience with or willingness to learn Moodle, our learning management system, and classroom media is necessary;
- The successful candidate will possess expertise in learner-centered teaching; use of technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy and the ability to work effectively with a culturally-diverse student body with a variety of learning styles.
