The College of Health and Human Performance (HHP) at ECU is home to eight academic units (offering over 30 degree options), award winning faculty, world class research labs and a diverse student body. Our wide range of academic programs provide an assortment of academic options for potential and current students. Student experiences inside and outside of the classroom are vast as well. Students in our programs are exposed to many different opportunities and experiences. These experiences and opportunities range from unique research opportunities, professional internships, community service projects, study abroad opportunities, just to name a few.

Job Duties

INTERNAL POSTING: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University.

The College of Health and Human Performance at East Carolina University seeks applicants for the internal position of Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Academic Affairs, which is a 49% reassignment of duties performed in a 12-month capacity.

Job Duties:

Assist the Dean in performing routine administrative responsibilities related to the college and monitor college compliance with university policies and procedures. Examples include representing the college on committees and task forces, and assuring that college activities are in compliance with the unit codes and the ECU Faculty Manual (e.g., voting rights, committee assignments).

Serve as a member of the College Executive Committee.

Collaborate with college administrators in planning, implementing, and evaluating a college-wide new faculty orientation and on-going faculty development opportunities.

Collaborate with other administrators and staff in the planning and implementation of college-wide activities such as commencement recognition ceremony, the HHP faculty retreat and other functions.

Collaborate with other administrators facilitating the awards process for HHP faculty and staff.

Consult with department chairs and HR/AA unit personnel representative to facilitate faculty credentialing.

Serve as signature designee at the college level.

Assist in coordinating college faculty elections including faculty senators and alternates.

Collaborate with faculty and administrators in efforts toward ensuring diversity of students, faculty and staff in the college.

Represent the college at various campus and community functions particularly those that relate to graduate programs.

Collect, analyze and periodically report college of HHP data to the Dean and other college administrators particularly focusing on data related to graduate programs.

Serve as the liaison between the college and the Graduate Program Directors and the Graduate School.

Assist the HHP public communications specialist in marketing of graduate programs, including the development of materials in print or other forms of media.

Serve on college and university committees as appointed by the Dean.

Consult with departments undertaking graduate academic program reviews and action plans related to reviews to ensure compliance with university and college guidelines.

Consult with department faculty responsible for graduate degree program assessment to ensure compliance with Southern Association of Colleges (SACS) and university guidelines; serve as liaison to university program assessment committees.

You may also be assigned additional duties by the Dean.

Minimum Education/Experience

Candidates must be current, tenured faculty members in the College of Health and Human Performance at the Associate Professor or Professor rank.
