Compensation: Starting salary is based on rank and applicable steps for related work experience as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule. Promotional placement is not limited to the posted salary range maximum. Description:

Santa Fe College is currently seeking a full-time, 9-month Assistant Professor to fill a continuing contract position beginning Fall 2019.The position includes teaching assignments within the Building Construction Technology Associate of Science Degree Program. Applicants should be able to be credentialed to teach other courses across the Building Construction curriculum. The curriculum includes courses in the Associate of Science Degree, as well as the Associate of Arts Degree, which prepares students for transfer into the state university system to pursue a Baccalaureate Degree in Construction Management. Course descriptions can be viewed at http://www.sfcollege.edu/construction.The successful applicant must be a proven leader with organizational skills, vision, integrity and a desire to keep construction education at Santa Fe relevant to the future at the local, state and the national levels. He/she must have a construction education and possess firsthand knowledge of the construction process. He/she must have proven experience in the construction industry.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Teach courses in the Building Construction curriculum (http://www.sfcollege.edu/programs/3610)

  • Design courses current with industry standards and ACCE student learning outcomes, deliver instruction, and assess student learning.

  • Possess expertise in the subject matter, engage in professional development, and provide service to the department and the college.

  • Counsel/advise students in building construction programs.

  • Actively engage in professional organizations in the construction industry.

  • Effectively utilize online course management systems such as CANVAS to deliver and/or enhance instruction.

  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Academic Director, Construction and Technical Programs

Qualifications:

Required: A Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a qualifying field is required. (For qualifying disciplines, go to Faculty Credentialing Manual and scroll down to page 18 for further information)A A minimum of five years of experience in the construction industry (applicants may substitute teaching and/or academic experience for construction industry experience).

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: Master’s degree in a Construction related field. Licensure by the Construction Industry Licensing Board in the State of Florida.

  • Independent work - able to work independently with limited supervision and able to self motivate.
