Working TitleAssistant Professor of Music EducationJob Summary

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Assistant Professor of Music Education. This full time position teaches undergraduate courses in music, music education and coordinates the music education tracks, and GaPSC accreditation requirements. The Assistant Professor of Music conducts research and makes scholarly contributions to the field of Music Education; teaches in applied or other areas according to expertise and/or needs of the Music Education tracks; assists with student advising and participates in academic affairs of the department, including the recruitment of students for the Music Education program. Supervises student teaching of Music Education Majors; must be accessible to department students and hold at least 10 office hours per week. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description.

Minimum Qualifications

A master’s degree in Music Education is required. Must have demonstrated successful college- level teaching skills and have experience teaching music at the K-12 level. Background and/or credit check may be required.
