Position: Assistant Professor in Social Studies Education, Tenure Track

Position Description: The Education department at Eastern Connecticut State University seeks qualified applicants for a tenure track assistant professor line in Social Studies Education. The position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in social studies education for elementary and secondary certification students, as well as advanced graduate courses in relevant social studies education topics. It involves engaging in scholarship and creative activities and maintaining an active research agenda. Successful candidate will also supervise elementary and secondary candidates in the field.

Qualifications: The successful applicant must have an earned doctoral degree in Social Studies Education, Curriculum and Instruction with a social studies concentration or related fields. Candidates who are ABD near completion will be considered. Experience teaching social studies at the elementary and/or secondary classrooms is required. Successful applicant must have an established research agenda and demonstrate successful engagement in scholarship and creative activities. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge and experience in educational technology for content learning and teaching. Experience in supervising teacher candidates in the field is preferred. Successful candidate must also demonstrate commitment to post-secondary teaching, mentoring student research, advising students, and departmental and institutional service.
