Basic Function

The theater/AV technician serves as part of the Schlesinger event support team performing a wide variety of technical tasks to prepare for and support clients’ events taking place at the Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: assisting in the setup and running of theatrical lighting and sound systems; assisting in the setup and operation of audio-visual systems including projectors, televisions, and portable sound systems; assisting clients in integrating their own laptops and other equipment with the Center’s; assisting in the use of the theatrical rigging system; assisting in the setup and cleanup of furniture before and after events. These tasks are to be performed under the supervision of the operations manager and/or technical director, but with an expectation of prudent independent work.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Education and several years experience.

Preferred Qualifications

AA or BA or BFA in technical theater, audio/visual discipline plus workplace experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The candidate must maintain a professional demeanor and image as this is a customer-facing position. S/he must be able to manage multiple responsibilities at once. Climbing, lifting, moving chairs and tables are required. Non-traditional hours and weekends are required.
