Adjunct instructors plan classes and implement and evaluate teaching/leaming objectives and student learning outcomes. An adjunct instructor undertakes the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate History courses within UNT Dallas's History minor, including core-curriculum U.S. History and World Civilization courses (2610-U.S. History to 1865, and 2620-U.S. History since 1865, 1050-World Civilization I, 1060-World Civilization II), and there may be an opportunity to teach upper-level courses.
Adjunct faculty members will be required to use texts and meet certain content parameters set by the Department of History. Adjunct instructors also will be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department, and to compile data on those assessment criteria. The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:
- Master's degree in History with at least 18 graduate hours in History, and outstanding experience in teaching core-curriculum U.S. History and World Civilization courses.
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- PhD in History with significant experience in higher education.
- Successful experience teaching adults in a post-secondary institution.
- Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.
Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions
Work is primarily sedentary. The instructor sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting items weighing up to 15 pounds.
