Department This position is with the Center for Global Engagement.Responsibilities The Center for Global Engagement at Florida State University invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty position in Fall 2019 to teach INS 2912 Developing Global Citizens: Global Issues in Theory and Practice. INS 2912 is the final required class for the Global Citizenship Certificate. It is a culmination of the global competencies and skills developed while participating in the Global Citizenship Certificate Program. In this capstone class, students increase global competencies by learning about globalization from multiple dimensions and apply it to higher-level critical thinking and research. The main component of the course is for students to identify a global issue and develop a 20-page research paper on these topics. Students then present their research at the Fall Research Day/Undergraduate Research Symposium.

The adjunct will be responsible for teaching one 3-credit course, meeting once a week for 2.5 hours. The course meets every Wednesdays at 9:30am-12noon. The faculty member is also required to be available for at least 2 hours of office hours per week. Maximum enrollment for the course is 19 students.Qualifications The desired candidate must have a Ph.D. in political science, international affairs, global issues, sociology, cultural anthropology or a related field and up to two years of experience in teaching undergraduate courses.Preferred Experience teaching research methods.Other Information This position reports to the Program Director of the Global Citizenship Certificate.
