RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following

This part-time adjunct instructor position reports to the Chair, Arts and Communication.

1. Provide instruction in English in a variety of education settings in accordance with College policies and practices.

2. Prepare course materials in English according to accreditation and best practices in collaboration with English faculty.

3. Utilize multiple strategies to facilitate learning while creating effective student assessment. Create an inclusive and respectful learning environment for students.

4. Produce timely course materials including a course syllabus and schedule according to College and Department practices.

5. Complete required reporting processes such as entering grades, maintain confidentiality procedures and accurate course records.

6. Attend Department and College meetings as required.

7. Respond to student and College communication in a timely manner.

8. Assume teaching assignments at various College locations. Hours and modalities may vary. Collaborate with Department Chair to establish program schedule to meet student needs. Meet according to assigned class schedules.

Position Summary

This is a part-time adjunct instructor position.

Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources, and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo and Lansing, 60 minutes to Grand Rapids and within 3 hours of Detroit, Chicago, and Indianapolis.

Physical Demands

The job responsibilities are performed in an office area, presentation venues, and could be at one of KCC’s regional sites outside of the Battle Creek area. Travel by car may be required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 – 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and, may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Earned Master’s Degree in English or a Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate credits in English course work from an accredited institution at the time of application; attach unofficial transcript showing coursework completed and degree conferred.

2. Minimum of one year successful teaching experience.

3. Experience using instructional technology.

4. Must have ability and means to travel among regional work sites.

Preferred but not Required

1. Post-secondary face-to-face teaching experience.

2. Experience in a community college setting.

Proposed Salary

According to the current board-approved rate.
