Job Details
The Unified Communications Infrastructure Engineer provides architecture design, administration support, and high-level troubleshooting for the Cisco Unified Communications service at Princeton University. The infrastructure engineer is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of voice, video, and messaging services. This position has a high level of responsibility and requires technical creativity, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Responsibilities- Manage and support Cisco Unified Communications applications, including Call Manager, UCCX, Unity Connection, Cisco Meeting Server, Attendant Console, CUBE, Informacast and Jabber
- Provide expertise in the technical design, configuration, and troubleshooting of the collaboration technologies
- Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades and related activities using change management procedures
- Implement the Network Management System (NMS) for Unified Communications (UC) infrastructure and VOIP monitoring
- Mentor unified communications team, and provide assistance as needed
- Perform maintenance and respond to major service issues outside of normal business hours
- Collaborate with the department of Public Safety on the critical services related to 911 and emergency notifications to ensure their availability and reliability
- Collaborate with network and monitoring services technical staff to implement Quality of Service (QoS), and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and multicast issues
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations to organizational leadership
- Maintain documentation of UC Infrastructure and inter-dependent services
- Create troubleshooting and test plan procedures
- Advanced experience in Cisco Unified Communications and Collaboration technologies, network engineering, and system implementation
- 5 to 7 years of experience supporting Cisco Unified Communications technologies
- 3 to 5 years of experience with Cisco switching/routing (QoS, DHCP, VLAN, multicast)
- Experience with NMS and VOIP monitoring tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Service Management, specifically ServiceNow
- Telepresence and video experience
- CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE certification
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience.
