The Department of Accountancy and Business Law at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for one or two tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning January 2020 or Fall 2020. The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate and Master’s level courses in accounting, conducting scholarly research that results in quality peer-reviewed publications, student advising, and service to advance the mission of the department, school, university and the accounting profession. Instructional duties include teaching three classes per semester. Applicants with interests in all functional areas of accounting will be considered.

Minimum Requirements

A Ph.D. in Accounting is required. Candidates with earned degrees will be given preference, but ABDs with completion of degree by August 2020 will be considered. Candidates must have potential to be excellent teachers, active researchers, and participating members of the university and professional communities.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful applicants should be committed to excellence in teaching as well as success in scholarly research, which includes ongoing research suitable for publication in quality peer-reviewed outlets. The ideal candidate will have an interest in teaching courses at both the undergraduate and Master’s level. Experience and interest in teaching online will be valued in the selection process.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Department of Accountancy and Business Law serves over 300 undergraduate majors seeking the bachelor of science degree with a concentration in accounting and offers a Master of Science Degree in Accountancy that graduates approximately 60 students annually. The Department also provides core courses for the Cameron School of Business and supports both Professional and Online MBA programs.

The Cameron School of Business is AACSB accredited and serves more than 2200 business majors, including graduate students in the PMBA, EMBA, M.S. in Accounting, International MBA, M.S in Business Analytics, M.S. in Finance and Investments, and M.S. in Computer Science and Information Systems programs. The Wilmington metropolitan area comprises approximately 225,000 people and features a thriving port, business community, and tourism industry. Bordered by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Fear River, Wilmington offers the best in coastal living.
