IMAGINE Lab has an opening for a Research Scientist II in the area of 3D animation, visualization, and interaction design.
Major Responsibilities:
The candidate is expected to conduct the following activities:
- Lead and train the team of GRA’s and SA’s to collect spatial data using satellite imagery, plans, drones, point clouds, LIDAR, etc., and to convert it to 3D models
- Model, texture, rig, and animate low and high detail polygonal models for game engines, renderings, animations, and 3D printing
- Maintain and update the current 3D model library following the established structure and naming convention
- Manage multiple projects and teams
- Create photorealistic video presentations using video footage and 3D models
- Work closely with the team or independently on a quick project turnaround (usually 2 - 3 weeks) and deliver a final product in a timely manner.
- Lead the development of AR and VR applications for architectural visualization
- Design interactive applications for web, mobile, and desktop using UX methods
- Create User Interfaces
- Create UX protocols and conduct user research and user testing
- Maintain servers and render farm
- Adopt new technologies and software
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in Architecture, Computer Science, Digital Media
Certifications: N/A
Skills: The successful candidate will have strong skills in the following areas: 3DS Max, Adobe suite, Backburner, Unity 3D, C#, 3D modeling, animation, compositing, render farm management
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Education: Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Centered Design
Preferred Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in 3D modeling, compositing, and AR\VR in Unity 3D
Preferred Certifications: Remote pilot license
Preferred Skills: 3D low and high poly modeling for game engines and animations, compositing in Adobe After Effects and Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch, Unity 3D, AR\VR, C#, JS, Python, photogrammetry, rapid prototyping, Arduino, quantitative and qualitative research methods, GIS, UX research, wireframing, 3D printing.
