General Summary

The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites qualified applicants to apply for part-time teaching for courses and/or laboratories offered in astronomy, physics and physical science.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching includes a number of obligations which employees are expected to fulfill besides the actual teaching of the subject matter. These tasks include, but are not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.

Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor's degree in physics or a closely related science field, and preference given to those with a Master's in physics, or who are nearing completion of a Master's degree in physics or a closely related science field.

Application must include the following: Cover letter of intent, curriculum vita or resume describing educational background and all teaching experience, letter of recommendation, statement of teaching philosophy of at least 1000 words, list of 3 or more references and examples of most recent student evaluations. Applicants with 2 or more years of teaching experience are preferred.
