The Office of Advancement supports the mission of Georgetown University, its faculty, and students by developing relationships with key constituencies, connecting with alumni, and working with donors to help them know and understand opportunities for partnership with the university.

About this role:
The Data Analyst and Gift Processor reports to the Manager, Gift Accounting and Donor Compliance and works closely with the Director, Gift Accounting, the Director, Gift Processing and the Staff Accountant. They are primarily responsible for analyzing donor and financial records and performing the necessary corrections and adjustments within the donor database and financial system. The Analyst will also serve as a liaison with campus departments to troubleshoot any issues with donated funds or donors requests. The Analyst needs to demonstrates an understanding of the principles of accounting, reporting, maintaining a standard of accuracy and efficiency, and a significant level of confidentiality due to the sensitive donor/constituent client information relative to gift processing. During peak times of the year this position may be required to assist in the processing and receipting of gifts received from donors as well as other administrative tasks.

The Data Analyst and Gift Processor is part of the Office of Gift Administration team that ensures philanthropic gifts are accepted, recorded, receipted and reported in a timely and accurate manner. The Office of Gift Administration is a primary supporting function to the Office of Advancement and its mission.
This position has no direct reports and works closely with the other members of the Office in order to achieve success.
Duties include but are not limited to:

Corrections:
  • Acts as the primary person responsible for performing corrections in AQ
  • Analyzes the steps to take with complex corrections or system issues relating to corrections and communicates with UIS on how to fix them
  • Identifies and proposes solutions to the root cause for the corrections
  • Reviews and implements gift processing data quality control parameters
  • Works closely with gift processing team to creatively finds ways to reduce processing errors
  • Communicates with Development Officers, Development Associates and other campus colleagues about their corrections requests

Reporting:
  • Serves as the Office of Gift Administration's GU360/AQ resident specialist.
  • Attends GU360/AQ meetings and updates the Office
  • Serves on any committees related to GU360 developments, such as the SWAT Reporting Team, in support of the Office of Gift Administration
  • Understands the role reports play in the GU360/AQ implementation and through future upgrades
  • Liaises with Records Team to understand impact to giving processes
  • Runs consistent giving reports to look for errors or corrections

GU360/AQ Gift Reporting:
  • During busy times of fiscal and calendar year-end, processes batches, as assigned, to record gifts into AQ
  • Accurately calculates and applies any Quid Pro Quo or other amount that may reduce the tax deductibility of a gift
  • Ensures workflow meets monthly close deadlines and other financial deadlines
  • Checks own work to ensure recording is accurate and timely
  • May review others work as a peer review to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Serves as backup to the Gift Cashier Specialist, Donor Services Manager and Staff Accountant, learning the essential part of their jobs to be able to perform them if needed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Technology or related field
  • Minimum of two years professional level related experience, preferably with a University or other nonprofit organization.
  • Must have the capabilities of making sound decisions, exercising good judgment and interacting with a diverse constituency.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and demonstrated capacity for increased responsibilities in administrative, analytical, and financial experiences.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a familiarity of standards related to gift administration such as CASE Standards, FASB Accounting rules, and IRS guidelines.
  • A solid background in Google email/calendar/documents, Microsoft Excel, and demonstrated writing is required.
  • Must demonstrate skills in the compilation of data from systems and presentation of analysis.
  • Experience with Salesforce is preferable, although not required.
