Position Summary: Reporting to the UMC Web Content Manager The Web Systems Manager will be responsible for the management of North Park University’s website infrastructure. The incumbent will have the ability to conceptualize, articulate, design and execute strategic direction for the website within the budget of the department; provide an understanding of best practices regarding usability, user-centric design, accessibility, search engine optimization, and coding standards; a solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions; the ability to analyze web server traffic data and prepare reports highlighting key information, trends and opportunities understandable to those with a non-technical background.

Essential Responsibilities

Website Infrastructure:

North Park’s website is hosted by Pantheon on a (GWS) Google Website Server. An essential responsibility is to monitor and respond to ongoing system issues including system updates, compatibility issues, and external threats. Northpark.edu has numerous plugins, and each plugin requires maintenance. Infrastructure task include:

  • Pushing system updates
  • Cloning the live environment to dev on monthly basis – DB and Files
  • Addressing conflicts that arise with Pantheon and/or within specific plugins
  • Monitoring and performing system backups
  • Updating static files in the source code, this happens on an annual basis (flat html files for financial aid)
  • Accessing the sequel data base in order to update faculty and staff query strings
  • Clearing server-side cache as needed: associated with adding 301’s –.
  • Managing source code parameter pass and redirects
  • On the Pantheon - CMS side, managing WordPress plugins
  • Manage security, manual IP blocking
  • Oversee governance, standards, and metrics for Web and digital work, including user experience (UX)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Marketing, Business or Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing website hosting, design, as well as WordPress CMS and website redevelopment projects.
  • Experience in and knowledge of website analytics tools (Google Analytics, etc.)
