The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy is seeking a dynamic team member to direct the Office of Educational Innovation and Scholarship (OEIS). Consistently ranked in the Top Ten by US News and World Report, The College of Pharmacy is located on the university’s main campus in Columbus, Ohio and offers degree programs at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral and Professional degree levels in an environment that supports and fosters faculty development.

The Director of OEIS works collaboratively with administrators, faculty and staff to support, foster and transform learning at all educational levels. The Director supports faculty in setting strategies and priorities for instructional innovation and subsequently sharing these innovations through the scholarship of teaching and learning. This team member leads the staff of OEIS to implement initiatives and manage a portfolio of teaching-support-related projects and provides strategic leadership with respect to learning at the college. The Director will also continue to develop their innovative pedagogical approaches by offering two sections of undergraduate pharmacy courses each year to align with college needs and candidate expertise.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in an education-related field or other masters with 3-5 years professional experience managing, directing or coordinating instructional design; at least three years’ supervisory experience; excellent verbal and written communication and motivational skills, including a proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty and administrators. Demonstrated ability to use data to inform development and delivery of creative and effective faculty development programming related to pedagogy and learning science. Demonstrated ability to strategically plan, think, and manage a team; knowledge of learning sciences, instructional design theory and methodology, and best practices in pedagogy; knowledge of future trends and innovations in learning and higher education; appreciation for multiple instructional delivery methods, including face-to-face, blended, and online; demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and work collaboratively within and across units.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD in an education-related field with at least three years of experience teaching or working with faculty at the post-secondary level, with a demonstrated record of instructional excellence. Experience working with online courses; knowledge of educational psychology literature as it applies to teaching and learning, curriculum development, course design, teaching approaches and methodologies, and assessment of student learning. Ability to enhance learning experiences for students; experience with learning management systems: e.g., Canvas LMS; a proven record of research design and publications related to pedagogy and learning. Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative analysis and research methods desired. Experience with health professions education and curriculum revision and implementation is a plus.
