Federal Work Study - Pasadena Campus

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Student Worker for our Library!

The Library Student Worker will serve as a student representative in the Library and provide general office support to the Assistant Director of Library Services. This position is located in Pasadena and reports directly to Rebecca Russell, Assistant Director of Library Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Check in and out books, reserve books and other library materials
  • Process holds, renewals and other patron request
  • Uphold library policies
  • Answer basic informational, directional and library policy questions, help patrons locate material in library
  • Assist with document delivery scanning and processing interlibrary loan
  • Answer phone calls, reply to emails directed to the library
  • Record and tally usage statistics
  • Shelf-read stacks for proper call number order, sort and shelve books
  • Able to lift and move boxes of books and archive materials
  • Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to maintain professional relationships in an academic setting with diverse patron groups
  • Familiar with PCs and Microsoft Office Suite, general computer literacy
  • Must have good customer service skills

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be eligible for Financial Aid.
  • Strong computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Able to maintain professional relationships in an academic setting with diverse patron groups.
  • Must have good customer service skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
