Under supervision, the Program Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative and program support for the Center for Student Involvement Community Services Transportation program (CST).
Incumbent works collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, and community partners to develop, support, and evaluate shuttle services to community service sites throughout San Diego for UC San Diego student volunteers. Promotes CST to students, faculty, and staff engaged in community service programming. Helps track community service van usage, supplying data as needed and via quarterly reports. Works with supervisor to develop shuttle routes for three 8-passenger vans. In collaboration with student lead drivers, provides coordination of student driver schedules. Assists with hiring and training of student drivers and helps with the development of student leaderships skills and safe practices. Tracks van maintenance.
- May be required to work evenings and weekends; required to work occasional overtime.
- May be assigned other duties and may conduct special projects as needed.
- As back-up driver, ability to maintain a 9-passenger van or transportation vehicle including but not limited to, maintaining required fuel levels and inspecting van for maintenance and repairs.
Demonstrated experience with working in a community service or service learning environment.
Demonstrated ability to train student drivers and promote safety/compliance.
Ability to apply student development principles in alignment with student affairs priorities.
Skill in working with individuals and groups from diverse cultural, ethnic, socio economic and social backgrounds.
Excellent customer services (in person, by phone, or by email) in order to provide the best service possible.
Proven interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with diverse staff, student and community populations, both orally and in writing.
Ability to manage complex programs using computer based applications, database management, spreadsheets, word processing, and email.
Ability to navigate common University-specific computer application programs and University and departmental principles and procedures.
Ability to develop and distribute promotional flyers to target audiences and to create community partnerships.
Knowledge of common University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Knowledge and understanding of UC San Diego community service programs.
Job offer is contingent upon a satisfactory clearance based on background check results.
Must possess a valid CA driver's license and a minimum of two (2) years good driving experience, as verified by DMV.
