School/Center Overview

The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is the oldest and one of the finest medical schools in the United States. Duties

The primary function of this position is to provide support for the 2-PREVENT Breast Cancer Translational Center of Excellence (TCE) studies by assisting the center PIs and Project Managers with the research responsibilities of the center and the associated projects. These projects include studies utilizing the TCE Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) platform, as well as those focusing on metastatic disease studies (i.e. METAMORPH). The CRC will be responsible for all aspects of study coordination, screening, patient recruitment and data collection for those studies to which he/she is assigned. The CRC will also work closely with clinical and research teams to arrange the study participants’ procedures essential to both the clinical and research procedures. The CRC will attend the procedures to procure study specimens.

The CRC will also be responsible for data entry into various databases including but not limited to ACCARD, RedCap, VELOS (Penn CTMS), Excel, Oracle Clinical, LabVantage and Pumpkin (LMS). The CRC will work with collaborators to facilitate study specimen shipment, processing and storage. In addition, the CRC will coordinate data entry for study regulation and biosample processing, analysis, and storage. CRC will be responsible for performing quality assurance and quality checks in order to ensure all data required for reporting/presentation, as well as for paper or grant submissions is accurate and up to date. In addition, the CRC will work directly with laboratory personnel to ensure that sample tracking and lab data entry is accurate and up to date. The CRC will have the primary role in the abstraction of medical record information from subject’s electronic medical records (EPIC), interviews and/or questionnaires for entry into the study research databases and actively track all enrolled study participants for follow up.

Finally, the CRC will also assist in other ongoing research efforts and TCE related projects.

Qualifications

BA/BS in social science or related field and 2 years to 4 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required . Previous experience with clinical research coordination is required. Computer proficiency, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, RedCap and Access is preferred. Previous experience with EPIC and chart abstraction preferred. Previous experience with biospecimen collection from study participant’s clinical procedures is preferred. Experience with blood processing including serum, plasma, and buffy coat, is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus. Position is contingent on funding.
