The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine, established in 2015 and located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, a semi-tropical area known for rich culture, wildlife and economical living conditions is growing.
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology seeks a full time fellowship trained faculty member in the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). This is a unique opportunity to join a new medical school and residency program in OB/Gyn and a planned residency program in Urology. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a newly created FPMRS Division led by a fellowship trained FPMRS attending. As a Department, our goal is to expand the clinical practice across the Valley and develop the FPMRS educational and scholarly activities for medical students and OB/Gyn and Urology residents. There will be ample opportunity for involvement in scholarly activities including curriculum development and clinical research.
This is an opportunity to expand the Division, enhance the research agenda and grow the clinical practice. The position will be based at the Doctor’s Hospital Renaissance (DHR) in Edinburg, Texas, the primary teaching site for the new UTRGV-SOM Ob/Gyn residency program.
Current Board certification by the American Board of Ob/Gyn, or be an active candidate within three years of residency, possess or be eligible for a Texas medical license, and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Ob/Gyn UTRGV School of Medicine and appropriate hospital staff appointments. Demonstration of strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students is essential. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with experience and credentials.

Minimum Qualifications

Current Board certification, or eligibility for certification, by the American Board of Ob/Gyn in General Ob/Gyn, and board eligible or board certified in FPMRS. Must have completed an ACGME accredited fellowship in FPMRS. Must possess, or be eligible for, a Texas medical license, and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Ob/Gyn UTRGV School of Medicine and appropriate hospital staff appointments. Must have a strong commitment to resident education and ability to work collaboratively.

Post fellowship experience in an academic setting is highly desired. Established research interests including recent publications and funding is desired.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
