JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the college’s physical plant operations, including construction, building maintenance, custodial maintenance, grounds maintenance, mail room, central receiving, and safety management.
MAJOR DUTIES
•Provides management, supervision and professional direction to a comprehensive facilities organization; directs facilities master planning, space utilization, architectural and engineering services, and construction management; directs facilities maintenance, repair and operations activities, including renovations, utilities distribution, custodial and grounds maintenance services, and emergency response services for facilities.
•Develops and recommends policies, planning guidelines and procedures for the development of the college’s annual major repair and renovation and capital program; manages the program throughout the process of development, approval and implementation; works with service providers; negotiates and approves contracts.
•Develops, implements and recommends policies and procedures for facilities management, maintenance and operations
•Develops annual budget proposals; manages approved budgets; tracks spending.
•Analyzes problems, troubleshoots, and identifies alternative solutions.
•Represents the college to the Board of Regents and to local, state and federal governments on matters related to facilities and facilities planning.
•Manages new construction and renovation processes; develops preliminary budgets and construction time frames; directs the selection, awarding, administration and construction of all capital projects and major repair and renovation projects.
•Coordinates the review process for plans and specifications developed by consultants.
•Advises the Vice President of Finance and Administration on the progress of all renovations, modifications and capital projects.
•Performs related duties.
Salary is $70,524.00
Minimum Qualifications:KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
•Knowledge of facilities operations, maintenance and management principles and practices.
•Knowledge of budget development and management principles.
•Knowledge of current trends and best practices in higher education and their impact on facilities management.
•Knowledge of facilities planning, design, and construction.
•Knowledge of utilities operation and management.
•Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
•Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority.
•Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
•Skill in decision making and problem solving.
•Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
•Skill in oral and written communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
•Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.
