This is a temporary assignment which will end by July 31, 2019
GSU STEAM Camp counselor educators will lead or directly support applied science, technology, art, and mathematics related activities for students enrolled in GSU’s STEAM Camp (session one: July 15 to 19, session two: July 22 to 26, 2019) in conjunction with GSU faculty, volunteers and staff.
STEAM Camp counselor educator candidates should be motivated with an interest and aptitude in teaching/ supporting the delivery of STEAM-related content and mentoring children ranging in age from 10 to 17, in small and medium-sized group formats through a variety of indoor and outdoor lab, field trip and practical activities.
Counselor/educators will work in and out-doors as needed to support camp operations
Minimum Qualifications1. Skills and knowledge necessary to complete job functions
Preferred Qualifications•Prior successful experience with GSU’s STEAM Camp or related type of activity
•Accumulated a minimum of 60 college credit hours or the equivalent in quarter hours or units
•Pre-service elementary education teacher
•Evidence of effective classroom management techniques
•Evidence of subject matter expertise in relevant science, technology, art, and mathematics disciplines
