ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
USF Innovative Education is an academic support unit that partners with USF's colleges to develop, market and recruit students into the university's most innovative programs. Services include online faculty development, online course design and development, program development, marketing, recruitment, admissions support and related services.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Learning Designer I participates in learning design projects including the development of instructional materials and media-rich online courses. This position collaborates with other learning designers and internal staff to design and develop interactive and media-rich online courses and digital content, assessing learner and faculty needs to determine appropriate and creative delivery methods. Demonstrates expertise in Learning Design theories, principles and implementation performing thorough content analysis to ensure grammar, organization, and purpose are clear for intended audience. Directly supports the efforts of the learning design team in designing and developing high-quality online courses.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the direction of the Project Manager, participates in learning design projects including the development of instructional materials and media-rich online courses.
  • Collaborates with learning designers and other internal staff to design and develop interactive and media-rich online courses and digital content.
  • Under the guidance from the Project Manager, produces digital assets and multimedia solutions while adhering to quality standards, student learning outcomes, and production timelines.
  • Performs thorough content analysis to ensure grammar, organization, and purpose are clear for intended audience.
  • Assesses learner and faculty needs to determine appropriate and creative delivery methods.
  • Demonstrates experience in Learning Design theories, principles and implementation.
  • Evaluates online courses and makes recommendations for improvements based on the on the Florida Quality Review process.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in education, technical writing, digital media or related field, with two years of experience in related position.  Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Learning Design, Adult Education or similar.
  • At least 2 years of instructional design experience required, preferably in a course development role.
  • Experience with Articulate or other rapid course.
  • Experience as a learning designer or instructional designer.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Portfolio must be included. Demonstrates expertise in online/web-based or media-rich content design, development and delivery. Proficiency in creating multimedia assets for digital learning, using technologies such as Articulate, Adobe, and Camtasia development software.
