The Coordinator of Disability Services reports directly to the Director of Disability Services in the Division of Student Affairs. The Coordinator of Disability Services serves as the main service provider for students with disabilities on campus and ensures academic access and campus accommodations.


  • Conducts information gathering such as intake interviews with students applying for accommodations and uses that information to assist students
  • Determines eligibility for services reviewing information gathered and documentation requirements
  • Coordinates all academic accommodations and services for students with disabilities
  • Coordinates testing and proctors testing for students with accommodations
  • Reads and scribes for exams
  • Coordinates interpreting services, cross checks and ensures accuracy of interpreter hours
  • Develops faculty accommodation letters and notifications
  • Maintains student files and database system
  • Presents in-service training to faculty and staff and develops programs and activities for disability awareness
  • Evaluates and assesses services, programs and activities
  • Participates in campus wide and system wide committees
  • Assists in research and grant opportunities
  • Participates in open houses and high school transition events
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of assistive technology software programs and equipment for use with students who have a variety of different needs
  • Assists students with disabilities in using assistive technology
  • Provides training to faculty, staff and students about assistive technology and its use
  • Maintains assistive technology on campus while staying abreast of changes and current trends
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in counseling, education, psychology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with people with disabilities, or in a post-secondary student services or experience assistive technology required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of disability law, best practices for college campus accommodations, access and assistive technology.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse group of people, communicate effectively, and work under minimal supervision as necessary.
  • Must be highly adaptable, flexible, self-motivated and knowledgeable about disability issues and campus life.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disability compliance such as website and physical design.

Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus.
