Requirements

The Research Programmer will work as a member of a large research team that spans multiple institutions and includes several investigators. The programmer will be responsible for all programming activities on a major project. He/she will be required to acquire a strong understanding of the research topic and a thorough knowledge of the data. The programmer will work with Medicare enrollment and claims data as well as longitudinal credit data. The programmer's duties include but are not limited to:
  • Merge several large administrative databases including Medicare enrollment, Medicare claims, and longitudinal credit data.
  • Construct analytical files
  • Conducting statistical analyses under the direction of the project's investigators
  • Effectively communicate results and findings to the research team.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or other quantitative or computer discipline and a minimum of three years of experience.
  • M.A./M.S. preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of programming languages and excellent database management skills
  • Able to manipulate and analyze large and complex data from varying sources, communicate results of complex quantitative analyses clearly and precisely, and work effectively as part of a research team
  • Exceptional problem-solving ability
