Research Programmer - McCourt School of Public Policy

Requirements

The Research Programmer will work as a member of a large research team that spans multiple institutions and includes several investigators. The programmer will be responsible for all programming activities on a major project. He/she will be required to acquire a strong understanding of the research topic and a thorough knowledge of the data. The programmer will work with Medicare enrollment and claims data as well as longitudinal credit data. The programmer's duties include but are not limited to:

Merge several large administrative databases including Medicare enrollment, Medicare claims, and longitudinal credit data.
Construct analytical files
Conducting statistical analyses under the direction of the project's investigators
Effectively communicate results and findings to the research team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or other quantitative or computer discipline and a minimum of three years of experience.
M.A./M.S. preferred.
Expert knowledge of programming languages and excellent database management skills
Able to manipulate and analyze large and complex data from varying sources, communicate results of complex quantitative analyses clearly and precisely, and work effectively as part of a research team
Exceptional problem-solving ability
