Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

Assistant Professor responsibilities include teaching courses in the psychology curriculum (which may include online, evening and or weekend classes); advising students; maintaining active service and research agendas; seeking/securing external funding to support research endeavors; serving in advisory positions for student organizations, and participating in committee work in the governance of the college and the psychology program. The ideal candidate must possess a doctorate in Psychology from an APA-accredited, scientist-practitioner, clinical or counseling program, and be a Texas-licensed psychologist or eligible for immediate licensure. The successful applicant should have some academic teaching experience and a record of research activity beyond the dissertation.

Essential Duties Summary:

Teaches at the undergraduate and/or the graduate levels. Maintain active research agenda, including seeking and securing external funding. Department, university, professional, and community service. Student advising and support.

Hiring Range:

Commensurate with experience.

Education:

An earned doctorate in Counseling, Clinical or School Psychology from an APA accredited program is required.

Required Licensing/Certification:

Licensure as a Psychologist or Licensed specialist in School Psychology preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Applicants should be dynamic individuals with a demonstrated ability to make significant contributions to departmental growth in the areas of curricular development, teaching, scholarly activity, and research funding. Applicants must also have a demonstrable commitment to undergraduate and graduate education in an academic environment.

Work Experience:

The applicant must have at least five (5) years of college or university teaching experience and must be committed to upholding excellence in teaching, research and service.

Working/Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed within routine office environment with no exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions.
