This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before 06/30/2020. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Under the general guidance of the Director of Sciences Technology Service (STS) and the Windows/PC Desktop Support Coordinator serve as a Windows/PC Desktop Support technician.

Primary responsibilities are to configure, secure, deploy, and maintain Windows PC systems. Incumbent may also assist with Linux and Mac Systems as well. This position will also assist with day-to-day IT operations, network troubleshooting, software installations, and enforcing campus IT Security policies.

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $5,500 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,470 - $6,486 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Minimum Qualifications

To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in operating systems programs, maintenance, and systems administration features is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent technical training and/or experience. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Operating Systems Analyst include a working knowledge of the assigned computer operating systems, systems analysis, and systems-level programming.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

• Experience with Microsoft Windows operating system.

• Experience with hardware testing.

• Willingness to learn.

• Ability to use performance monitoring software and interpret results.

• Experience with Linux and/or Mac Systems.

• Ability to perform preventative and remedial maintenance to operating system(s).

• Ability to interface/integrate campus defined operating system(s) with software and other systems.

• Ability to document operations procedures.

• Experience with virtual operating system applications.

• Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
