Provide support for research related regulated materials and accountability programs. Ensure proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials. Be able to lift items that weigh up to 50 pounds and be able to move heavier materials using handling equipment or with assistance. Ensure that related records are accurately maintained in accordance with agency regulations and University policies and procedures.

Perform testing, certification and minor maintenance of safety related equipment.

Assist with inspections, investigations, sampling and data analysis to confirm or ascertain the level of safety and protection that exists in university work areas. Assist in utilizing these results to determine and implement necessary control measures to assure that risks are adequately addressed, consistent with industry standards.

Participate in formal and on the job training, as needed, to ensure regulatory compliance and continued professional development. Provide response, oversight or training to be able to deal with unplanned occurrences such as hazardous spills, safety system failures, fires or air quality complaints. Maintain competency in the use of all specialized instrumentation, computer programs and databases.

Remain current regarding changes or advances that have an impact on EH&S associated programs by assisting in audits, research, interactions with colleagues at related institutions and by attending professional courses or society meetings as directed. Report any findings that may affect University programs to supervisors and assist in determining and implementing necessary policy changes to ensure best practices are realized.Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and two years of related work experience.

(Note: post high school education and experience equal to two years.)

Experience or knowledge of the physical or life science field.

Ability to understand and interpret educational needs and to develop effective instructional media solutions.

Ability to adhere to ethical business practices and promote ethical behavior.

Knowledge of emergency communications and hazard response practices, procedures, and protocols.

Experience or knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.

A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain upon hire.Pay Plan This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting.
