The Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to manage, develop, and deliver comprehensive student internship opportunities, career development, and student employment placement services in support of student’s educational and occupational growth.

  • Develops relationships with local employers across the county and creates opportunities for student placements
  • Provides direction and support to students in the areas of career choices, planning, placement strategies & internships
  • Administers internship orientations in conjunction with the faculty
  • Provides and recommends various workshops; such as, customer service, professional conduct, and grooming and etiquette
  • Provides students with guidance and information regarding career research, goal setting, job searching, and graduate school
  • Delivers career services workshops on network strategies, resume and cover letter skills, and portfolio development
  • Consults with employers regarding optimal marketing strategies to connect students to internships/jobs & creates events to market programs and opportunities
  • Updates and maintains the career and internship website as applicable to department
  • Works with multiple campuses to provide optimal student placements and maximizes all resources
  • Serves as student advisor and mentor and registers students during peak periods
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of directly relevant work experience in post-secondary/higher education, specifically in occupational or career counseling, recruiting, or job placement
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Possess excellent organizational skills
  • Possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with incorporating the use of technology to deliver career services
  • Ability to meet and work with higher education students with identified additional needs
  • Ability to research and quickly develop knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, and career opportunities
  • Ability to present a workshop or teach
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
