Job Summary: The Assistant Director, Development is responsible for supporting the administration of a program(s) or department. May assist with program design, management, and implementation. Serves as liaison between the program/department and other departments or the community. Position may supervise staff or students, provide complex administrative assistance, create promotional materials, and/or assist in the development of other potential programs. Position may be responsible for budgetary information.

Additional Department Summary: The Assistant Director, Development will work independently to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective donors for the University of Alabama Department of Athletics. This position will cultivate relationships with new individuals, corporations and foundations in support of the fundraising efforts of the Crimson Tide Foundation. The primary focus will be on relationship cultivation through in-person donor visits and visits with previously unsolicited prospective donors while working independently and utilizing traditional fundraising tactics as well as new, creative ideas. This position will be responsible for monthly revenue and productivity goals. Primarily, this position will work to develop relationships with previously unsolicited prospects and discover new prospects in an effort to secure capital gift requirements for the new premium seating opportunities in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience in fundraising, development, sales, communications or public relations; or Master's degree. Ability to travel locally and regionally. Night, weekend and holiday work is required on occasion. Must have valid U.S. Driver’s license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. Travel required.

Skills and Knowledge: A successful candidate will be a self-motivated, results-oriented individual with good oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills while maintaining a positive attitude. Ability to use personal computer and standard software packages.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in athletics fundraising is preferred. Knowledge of Paciolan and Blackbaud CRM is preferred.
