DescriptionThe carpenter reports to and works under the guidance of the Supervisor. Has medium to high level of expertise to perform skilled carpentry. Assist with the maintenance, repair and renovation of all carpentry aspects of University and Hospital buildings.  Maintains a safe and workable environment for all building users. Candidates should possess excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills. Focus on high quality work and efficiency is required. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a carpenter, or full journey status as a carpenter in a union or five years applicable work experience. 
Required Skills & Abilities:* Demonstrated knowledge of framing, trim work, moldings, construction, cabinetry and finish work.* Considerable knowledge of equipment, practices, and procedures of the carpentry trade.* General operating knowledge of all tools and equipment.* Basic math skills to perform algebra and geometry calculations related to construction tasks.* Problem-solving skills to identify issues and create action plans.* Ability to read blueprints and willingness to adhere to building codes.* Knowledge of basic construction materials, policies and procedures.* Ability to adapt to changing work priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment.* Capable of working independently without constant supervision. * Must have a valid driver’s license.
