DESCRIPTIONInvolves the service within the medical center or health system, in which medical/surgical supplies and equipment are cleaned, prepared, processed, stored and issued for patient care. Involves specialized expertise and direct responsibility for providing clean and sterile medical/surgical supplies and equipment to the operating rooms and patient care areas. Typically includes decontamination, assembly and packaging, sterile storage and distribution.
Applies knowledge, skill, and experience in Central Sterile Services to supervise activities of sterile processing technicians and other support staff performing routine sterile processing procedures. Coordinates schedules and assigns work. Ensures assignments are completed and timelines are met. Responsible for work quality ensuring sterile processing protocols are followed. Provides input to management on personnel issues and daily operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration or related area; and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
A minimum of three (3+) or more years of relevant experience.
Proven ability to supervise staff, assign work, manage complex workflow and competing priorities.
- Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience.
- Leadership/Supervisory experience.
- Central Service Technician certification awarded by a NCCA accredited organization (e.g. IAHCSMM, CBSPD)
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
