Provides overall daily management of a large, National Institutes of Health funded, multi-year research project focusing on how adherence to prescribed medications for pain and self-manager of symptoms relate to a range of patient and health system outcomes for patients with cancer receiving at the outpatient cancer centers within the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The Project Manager will work in close collaboration with the Principal Investigator, the research team, internal School of Nursing resources, and the Safety Monitoring Committee to monitor all aspects of the program; supervise project staff, oversee protocol fidelity, plan meetings, and work with the Institutional Review Board. Coordinates subject screening, recruitment, and data collection; oversees and supports research assistant staff tasked with obtaining informed consent; conducting interviews and follow-up. Oversees and manages data for the research project. Coordinates and conducts quality control and compliance in keeping with study protocols. Prepares financial, regulatory and technical progress reports; prepares data summaries; drafts articles for publication.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in health-related field with 3 years of progressively responsible experience or equivalent. Master’s degree preferred. Strong research project management background. Prior experience managing grants, specially large research project, e.g. NIH study. An in-depth knowledge of research design and the grant proposal process required. Prior Penn research management experience desired. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels in a fast-paced environment using sound judgment and organizational savvy. Comfort with technology is essential.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with initiative and a results-orientation. Must be a collaborative team player with the ability to work both independently and as part of a research team in partnership with PI. Excellent communication skills are essential. Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines essential. Strong PC related skills in MS Office and related database management. Prior supervisory experience needed. Preferred candidate will own or have access to a car for local travel; a valid driver’s license required.
